Aloha Sprinklerinos,

This past year I have had the good fortune to stay over in quite a few beautiful hotels. For me, what makes or breaks a hotel is the bed. I like the sheets to be crisp, the pillows to be plentiful and the mattress fit for a princess. In short, I am a high maintenance diva who knows exactly what she wants!

When we moved into our home 4 years ago (wow time flies!), we went from a fully furnished rental to a sparse in-need-of-repairs house. The very first thing we bought was a bed and despite it being a rushed purchase, to this day I am happy with our decision.

We opted for the 'Liervik' bed frame and Sultan Flokenes memory foam mattress from IKEA, which totalled £505. One of the best £505 I have ever spent. Added to that we spent £30 on a reeeaaaaallllyyy (I'm talking in excess of 5m) string of white LED fairy lights to wrap round the bedframe. Ikea only seem to stock these lights around Christmas so if you are after some, keep your eyes peeled.

For 4 years we just threw on our current (polyester filled I think?) duvet which was super cosy and regular old pillows. The only person who regularly gets new pillows is Miss Darcy and that's because she is a sweaty little sleeper and I want her to feel fresh when she wakes up.

So, back to the first paragraph. After staying in some b-e-a-utiful hotels this year, I decided I wanted to bring a little bit of that luxury into my bedroom and so splashed out on some gorgeous new bedding to give my slumber a little zing.

We opted for a John Lewis Goose Down 10.5 tog duvet in 'King Size' despite our bed only being a double- we want extra cosyness. I was a luxury buy at £160 but ermihgerd every time I hear that crinkle and rustle I think my heart melts just a little bit. To go with the duvet we bought the Olivia Bedding as all our other covers would have been too small. The sheeting is incredibly soft with just enough detail to make it interesting but not enough to clash with anything else in the room- I have always been a sucker for white bedding.

The pillows are hollowfibre and from Dunnes Homestore for £13 each. I considered purchasing feather ones but my purse was hurting and asked me to hold out a while!

We also bought Baby Glitter new bedding but I will save that for another post if you are interested? Oh, and what did we do with our old duvet? We laid it ontop of the mattress and then lay the sheet over that- hai there most amazing night sleep ever sandwiched between two duvets. Give it a go, your well rested body will thank you.

Overall, a big ol' spend but oh-so-worth it. I have completely abandoned my home office and have worked from my bed almost every evening this week! What a life!!

In time I will be adding more pillows and maybe a throw, but for now, this is my haven.

Please do tell me what you do to make your bed your nest and if you have any 'best night sleep ever' tips, leave them in the comments!

Toodlepip!
